#AnEyeOnTheFuture

This campaign ended Sunday, May 12th 2024 thank you for participating.

Moving Forward, our Cycling, Recycling, UpCycling campaign.

As an ongoing campaign to protect the places we ride and raise awareness in the cycling community about how cycling apparel is made and how to dispose of it once we retire it, we have partnered up with Kloth Circularity to collect old polyester cycling apparel and dispose of it in a proper eco-friendly manner.

At our shop in KL we have installed a recycling box in which you can drop off old apparel. We accept all kinds of cycling garments that are unwanted and in any condition (new, well-used, or torn) from all brands.

In return, you can receive an RM30.00 voucher per piece of old garment you drop in our #AnEyeOnTheFuture bin and use up to RM90.00 per new eco-friendly, sustainably produced cycling apparel that you purchase with us, online or in our store.

Vouchers can only be used on selected brands and not discounted items.

You may use that RM rebate immediately or receive a shop credit valid for up to six months.

You can also drop off your old unwanted apparel at our shop without purchasing anything. The main idea here is to keep polyester out of landfills and to protect the places we ride. To raise awareness in consumers about how cycling apparel is made and to purchase cycling apparel made from recycled materials rather than virgin fibers.

Cycling is an environmentally friendly sport, the production of cycling apparel, however, has its challenges.

Please share this campaign, thank you for participating.

Cycling,

Recycling, Upcycling.

In February, this year, we contacted Kloth circularity to find out what to do with old cycling apparel. You see, even though cycling is great for the environment and great for your health, the leftovers of our old cycling apparel can be very catastrophic to our environment. Cycling apparel is mostly made from polyester and elasthan and since polyester is made of plastic it is not biodegradable, it takes hundreds of years for the fibre to dissolve.

When sent to a landfill, the toxic materials used during the production process leach into the soil and could contaminate the water of the local population. Factories producing polyester without wastewater treatment systems can release potentially dangerous substances including antimony, cobalt, manganese salts, sodium bromide, and titanium dioxide into the environment. So, even though we do something great for the environment by cycling, we should also be very mindful of the way our apparel is made, and how we dispose of it once we retire it.

Back to Kloth circularity, established on 11th December 2013, Kloth is a women-led social enterprise that aspires to become the catalyst of textiles, clothing, and plastics circular economy in Malaysia, Singapore & Australia. Their KCFR movement is an environment, economic, and social impact movement, launched on 18.8.2018 and is committed to catalyzing a circular economy for textile and clothing.

KCFRM establish and develop value chains with various stakeholders to divert waste from landfills. In turn, waste is recycled into new products or resources with higher material value and purpose. KCFRM’s tagline is ‘Keep Fabric Out of Landfills’. Their aspiration is to enhance the recycling of textiles and clothing by raising awareness, providing the means for recycling (e.g., fabric bins), managing the effective collection of waste, gathering and analysing data etc.

Under the Kloth 5R philosophy of ‘Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle’, we strive towards contributing positively to the environment and reducing the negative impacts arising from textiles and clothing pollution.

Their philosophy is a great match with our Biehler philosophy of ‘protecting the places we ride’.

The Biehler Roots

Since our beginning in 1993, we have been committed to developing the world’s best cycling garments made under the highest social and ecological standards. Focus on the road while we ensure you do your part for a greener and fairer world.

Imagine a world in which a business’s priority is the impact its products are having on the planet. A world in which customers care about the origin of the products they purchase and under what working conditions they were produced in.

Acting sustainably determines our business, starting with the careful selection of raw materials to the manufacturing process and the life cycle of the products.

We only use Bluesign®, Oekotex and Global Recycling Standard certificated fabrics to ensure that our garments are made from materials that are produced using only chemicals and processes that are safe for people and the environment and that air and water emissionsfrom the manufacturing processes are entirely clean.

We also offer a range of products made of recycled fibres. Hangtags and packaging materials are made of recyclable materials or are compostable.
